11 in ’11: #11 – Work at Happiness

In 2011, I had two college friends celebrate weddings! Here’s my two-cents-worth of advice for new married couples:  How can you ensure that the happiness that you feel at the beginning of your marriage will last? Work at it! Schedule date nights. Celebrate every anniversary.  Share home responsibilities.  Communicate without yelling.  Listen without interrupting.  Put your marriage first.  Yes, even before the kids.  I know it sounds harsh, but when they leave home it’s going to be back to the two of you.  I would hate for you to grow apart in the process of raising a family and no longer know how to find happiness in each other.  It takes work, but it’s so worth it!  Congrats to my girls, Sharise and Monica!

Peace and Blessings!
