No Fear Allowed!

One day after Cub 4’s MyGym class, we had lunch at McDonald’s. Some of my friends who shall remain nameless (D.D.) are gagging at the thought of going to McDonald’s, but it’s what we do every once in a while!  She didn’t really want lunch there, she just wanted to play in the play area.

We hadn’t been to this particular McDonald’s before, and the equipment was unfamiliar to Cub 4.  She wanted to play on the slides, especially the blue one, but wasn’t too comfortable with climbing high enough to reach it.  She tried crawling through the tube from the bottom up, but it was too slippery.  From my seat, I could see that the green tube would be much easier for her to get to without having to climb so high.  I knew that if she just tried it once, she wouldn’t be afraid to do it over and over again.  Each time I explained to her where to go, she would climb a little and then run back to the table and say, “I can’t do it.”

So, this Momma Bear kicked off her shoes and led her cub up to the green slide and slid down the green tube with her to show her that it was something she was capable of achieving.  (It’s good to have a short MB sometimes!)  Just like I thought, she began climbing up to the green slide and sliding down with ease and with laughter and with excitement over and over again!

Our lunch outing that day reminded me of this scripture: “Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you.  He is right there with you.  He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.” Deut. 31: 6.

When Cub 4 didn’t feel that she could conquer the slide on her own, it was my guidance – me taking the lead and being right there for her – that helped her most.  That’s what God does for us in any situation we feel we cannot face alone.  The good news is that we don’t have to face anything alone!  Be strong and courageous knowing you’re not facing {insert your fear} alone!

Off and Running!
