This is Day 2 of a 31-Day series called Bear in Mind: Cubisms.
Poppa Bear (PB) and I learned quickly that our cubs were sneaky and manipulative little individuals many years ago starting with Cub 1. If he could get PB to agree to do something that I had already said no to, he could count that as a “win” in his little deceptive mind. Nowadays, PB and I have learned to wait for confirmation from each other when there are questions from the cubs (usually involving more play for them and less energy for us).
On the ride home from church, the cubs were trying to get us to take them out to eat at a restaurant instead of cooking at home. Cub 3 was really pressing in on PB and laying the repetitive pleeeeaaaase on pretty thick. She already knew that I would not bend to their pleading, but babygirl cub attempted to get her PB on her side. Her reasoning was this:
Cuz, y’all are one big heart!
She figured that if she could convince PB to change his mind, then I would have to change my mind also! Cub 3’s view of our marriage is exactly what we always strive to demonstrate to our cubs. We are one united front…99.8% of the time! One big heart!
And because of this, a man leaves father and mother and is firmly bonded to his wife, becoming one flesh – no longer two bodies but one. Because God created this organic union of the two sexes, no one should desecrate his art by cutting them apart. Matthew 19:5-6 MSG
