This is Day 11 of a 31-Day Series called Bear in Mind: Cubisms.
Cub 3 was looking at a Spanish picture book and she thought it was a good idea to make a game out of it. There were several problems with this game. First, Cub 3 doesn’t have any type of Spanish background, so you can imagine what her pronunciation of most of the words were like. We had to ask her to repeat the words over and over again. Second, neither Poppa Bear (PB) nor I could remember all of the Spanish vocabulary that we learned over twenty years ago. We had to ask for clues for many of the words. “Can you describe it?”, “Where can you find it?”, and “Can you spell it?” were some of the questions that we asked repeatedly.
Finally, Cub 3 became frustrated with PB and me and said, “Which do you want – yes or no – because I don’t have room for other questions?!” In other words, we were taking too long to figure out what the words were, and she only wanted questions that could be quickly answered with a yes or a no. Nothing else. So, we started asking things like “Can we eat it?”, “Does it fit in a house?”, and “Would you find it on a farm?” It was not a fun game…just frustrating for all three of us!
You’re either “for” or “against”.
The answer is “right” or “wrong”.
The result will be “positive” or “negative”.
For some, it’s frustrating having to choose. We can’t decide. We don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. We don’t want to commit. We want to sit on both sides of the fence. When it comes to our faith in Jesus Christ, however, we have to choose. Is He in control, or are we? Are we in His will, or on our own? Either we’re following Him, or we’re not.
Is God in control of your life? Are you in God’s will for your life? Are you following Him?
Choose THIS DAY whom you will serve!
“But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 NLT
