From Us to You!

I’m currently waiting for pizza.  I just dropped Cub 2, the last of the Cubs to get home from school, off at home with his cub siblings who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Momma Bear.  It’s going to be all the way LIVE at our house for the next ten days or so.  Therefore, I wanted to take a second to say Merry Christmas to my blog family!!

It took me some time to get into the “Christmas spirit” this year.  Perhaps it’s the unseasonably high temperatures here in Maryland.  We won’t have a white Christmas this year, but it will be wet!

Most of our Christmas cards were mailed.  Some family and friends may end up with two cards because they weren’t all mailed on the same day and I didn’t keep track of who had already been addressed.  Others will probably receive their cards next year, which technically will not be late because they do have Merry Christmas AND Happy New Year on them!

We voted to stay away from professional pictures this year, and the images I’ve included in this post  are the result of me trying to get one decent picture for the Christmas card.  Next year, it’s back to regular cards.

They do make me laugh, though!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Party of Six!!  I’ll chat with you again in 2016!

A Wrap Up

It’s the last day of school for the cubs and I am SO ready to have them at home full time!!  I’m sure I’ll rethink that statement by the end of their break, but right now, I cannot wait to put our schedule aside to enjoy the next few weeks.  Starting this evening, we’ll have a schedule-free, long overdue play date for Cub 3 and her favorite cousin!  They spent their first three years together and their bond is unbreakable!

We had somewhat of a new experience last week at church – for the first time ever, everyone had something to do as part of our church’s Christmas production!

Cubs 3 and 4 were part of the dance ministry.

I participated in the choir, and that left PB sitting alone and on camera duty.

Cub 1 took a few pics for me, but he couldn’t concentrate on getting pics for me, with our camera, and the church, with the church’s camera, at the same time.  PB decided to ask another photographer on duty to catch some pics of the cubs (Thanks, Vonetta!).

How is restoration going?  This time of year is great for fixing what has been wrong since everyone is starting to think about New Year’s resolutions.  Think of restoration as getting a head start on resolutions, however restoration brings back what was lost and it should be better than what it was before.  The Party of Six has had an eventful 2013, but thinking on those things that we needed to restore has me looking forward to a better 2014.  Whatever you decided to concentrate on restoring this month, I want to encourage you to look forward to it (whatever “it” may be) being better than the initial experience!

Just in case we are busier than what I anticipate, I want to say MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all!  I hope that you enjoy this holiday season with lots of family fun, good food, and praises to God for sending Jesus Christ to save the world!

By the way, I have lost my address book, so Christmas cards may not arrive by Christmas…or by the new year…I’m aiming more for like…before spring!

It’s The Thought That Counts

How I LOVE giving Christmas cards!  PB and I started doing family photo Christmas cards about seven years ago.  We’ve always done a traditional family photo, so I wanted to try something different this year.

I honestly thought the reindeer headbands would’ve been cute and funny, but obviously the cubs didn’t feel the same way (except Cub 2).  We ended up with our traditional card after all.

I also LOVE receiving Christmas cards!  When the cards start coming in the mail, it makes me even more excited about Christmas!

I love seeing how my friends’ children have grown over the past year.  I love receiving cards from our church family. I love receiving cards from the families in our past churches and I spend a few minutes thinking about how blessed we were to be able to serve them.  I love receiving cards from past co-workers and schoolmates and hearing how things are going since last year.

Isn’t that the point of Christmas cards?  Whether you’re on the receiving end or giving end, it just makes you feel good to know that someone is thinking about you.  It’s even better knowing that someone thinks kind thoughts about you – I’m assuming that you don’t send cards out to your enemies, nor do you frown on cards that you receive.  I try to send cards to everyone I know (and have an address for) because I cannot send gifts to everyone, but I can let them know that I’m thinking about them during this season.  Even though the cards just got in the mail yesterday and today, I hope they will be received with a smile and a kind thought about our Party of Six.  That’s how I felt when we received ours!

Peace and Blessings!
